KEYNOTE: “Your Thumb is Greener than You Think”
Denita’s passion for for young children to learn & grow is contagious.
You will leave with a new appreciation for yourself & a fresh perspective
on the important role you play in the lives of young children.
You have a green thumb, & Denita will send you home with oodles of ways
to use that thumb to plant seeds in the children who spend their days with you.
Planting seeds in young children is what Denita Dinger enjoys the most about
being an early childhood professional.
She plants seeds that will mature & blossom in their own time, when they
are ready. Denita also enjoys
planting seeds in early childhood professionals, seeds that will, in turn, be
used to create opportunities for young children to learn & grow.
Denita is a Family Child Care Provider in Sioux Falls, SD with previous
experience as a preschool teacher.
Denita makes use of her BS in Eled & Early Childhood Education by providing
preschool for the children who attend her program.
Moving to the Beat Makes Learning a Treat
(Denita Dinger)
– Session 1 A
Participants will leave this hands-on workshop filled with rhythm & rhyme &
quick & easy activities that will enhance their curriculum & assist in meeting
the Early Learning Guidelines. Using
rhythm in the classroom & daycare setting is a fun way for children to use their
bodies to experience early math & reading & has a positive effect on brain
development.
How to Get the Clients You Want—& How to Keep Them!
(Karen Bradley)
– Session 1 B
Interviewing is where a
successful parent/provider relationship begins - get it started right!
Setting the stage, looking for flags, checking for philosophical similarities, &
other important parts of interviewing will be covered. Many difficulties
with parents can be avoided if providers know what subjects to discuss during
the interview; starting out on the right foot is key.
Help! My Own Children are Driving Me Crazy
(Barb Wagner)
– Session 1 C
Often times our own children can be our biggest challenge in our daycare,
causing stress & frustration. In this class you will learn the causes of the
behavior & what you can do to stop it.
Eyes-on, Ears-on with Hands-on Science
(Denita Dinger)
– Session 2 D
All the senses will be on & learning will
explode (not your house) when you set up these fun, easy, BRAIN-ON science
activities. Enrich
vocabularies, improve observation skills, work cooperatively, heighten the
senses & most importantly….have fun through science!
You will leave this workshop excited for Monday morning!
Get It in Writing
(Karen Bradley)
– Session 2 E
Your policy & contract are two
documents that should be lifesavers: one helps you run the day-to-day operations
of your program smoothly, the other protects you legally.
Knowing what you need to spell out to your clients in your policy will
help you be more organized & consistent. A contract is a legal document,
spelling out what each party promises to do. When these two documents are
clear, everything goes better!
Socialization & Guidance—PITC
(Pat Gentz)
– Session 2 F
The ultimate goal of socialization & guidance is to help children feel good
about themselves as they gradually learn to behave according to social rules.
This lesson addresses appropriate ways to set limits for children &
covers key principles in socialization & guidance.
There will be further discussion on establishing a relationship of trust
with children, preventing discipline problems in advance & using guidance
techniques that REALLY WORK!!!
Playing Our Way to Reading Someday!!
(Denita Dinger)

This workshop will take the “same old” out & put the creative ideas in.
Participants will leave this hands-on workshop anxious for Monday
morning! Collect fresh ideas that
will help children acquire the early literacy skills they need all while playing
& having fun! A handy planning sheet
will be used during the workshop that will keep these ideas (& yours) organized

doing, sharing & laughing as you experience some fantastic activities & do some
creative thinking of your own!
Let’s Talk!

Communication between
parents & providers is the cement that holds their relationship together.

share notes, newsletters, email use, & other ideas to get the point across
-bring your own to share! Learn to be a strong, confident communicator, a
resource for your clients, & a happier, more successful business owner.

Session 3 I
Does your family child care environment look the same day after day, year after
year? This class is organized around
two videos; “Space to Grow" & “Many Right Ways:
Designing Your Family Child Care Environment,” where we actually go on a
tour of several providers homes via video.
We'll be discussing how we can set up a safe, fun & friendly environment
for children that promotes exploration & independence.
This class presents eight basic concepts related to the environment that
support & enrich our children’s growth.
